[Remote] Senior Software Engineer
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Optum is a global organization that delivers care through technology to help millions live healthier lives. The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for building and consuming GraphQL API endpoints, developing software that securely handles health and financial data, and collaborating with teams to align efforts towards common goals.
Responsibilities
- Building and consuming both GraphQL API endpoints and asynchronous events to implement business logic
- Building reusable code and libraries to be leveraged across our team and technology stack
- Developing software and processes that safely and securely handles our customer's health and financial data
- Collaborating within and across teams to ensure that all of our efforts are aligned towards the same goals
- Communicating thoughtfully with team members through design review, code review, and day-to-day collaboration
Skills
- 5+ years of full-time software engineering experience
- 3+ years of experience with Javascript/Typescript and Node.js
- 3+ years of experience building and consuming API endpoints (REST, AMQP, GraphQL)
- 3+ years of experience implementing testable business logic that is secure and easy to maintain
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
- Experience operating event-driven services
- Experience deploying to cloud-based environments such as AWS
- Experience building and maintaining 3rd-party integrations
- Experience leveraging message brokers and event streams-e.g., AWS SNS, SQS, Azure ServiceBus, or similar
- Experience operating in high security environments, e.g., payments, healthcare
