About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Backend Software Developer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing and building robust backend services that support our digital platforms and online services. Your expertise will help enhance the performance, scalability, and reliability of our systems, ensuring seamless access to our digital archives and resources for users across Texas and beyond. This position offers the opportunity to work on impactful projects within a collaborative environment, contributing to the preservation and dissemination of Texas’s historical and cultural heritage through innovative technological solutions.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in C# development with a solid understanding of object-oriented design principles. You should have at least five years of experience working with C#, .NET frameworks, and Web API development. Familiarity with asynchronous programming, multithreading, and data modeling with SQL is essential. Experience working in Agile development environments, along with proficiency in version control systems like Git or GitLab, is required. Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes will be advantageous. A background in gaming or interactive entertainment is a plus but not mandatory. Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop backend services that support online applications and digital platforms.
  • Create scalable algorithms and service tools to optimize platform performance and gameplay experiences.
  • Collaborate closely with game designers, mathematicians, and other stakeholders to translate game logic and features into efficient backend systems.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented C# code to ensure long-term system reliability.
  • Enhance internal development processes, improve backend architecture, and implement best practices for software engineering.
  • Participate in peer code reviews, architectural discussions, and team meetings to foster continuous improvement.
  • Support the deployment of applications through regulatory submission processes and compliance standards.
  • Work within an Agile environment, actively engaging with developers, QA teams, and product managers to deliver high-quality solutions.
