Technical Writer, B2B SaaS

Remote · New Zealand Full-time

Job Description:

  • Work with engineering and product teams to create documentation for new product features, API updates, and integrations.
  • Develop long-term content strategies that organize and make documentation easily discoverable for developers.
  • Ensure content accuracy and clarity by conducting regular content reviews and maintaining high documentation standards.
  • Work with engineering, product, customer support, and other partners to ensure technical content meets the needs of users and developers.
  • Establish writing best practices for internal and external documentation to ensure consistency and usability.
  • Identify areas for improvement in existing content and processes and implement enhancements to improve documentation workflows.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in Technical Writing, especially within B2B SaaS environments.
  • Experience translating complex concepts into concise documentation.
  • Expertise in API documentation and an understanding of software development processes.
  • Proficiency with tools such as Markdown, Git, and JIRA.
  • Experience with modern development workflows and an ability to work within a 'docs-as-code' environment.
  • Familiarity with version control systems and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Comfortable collaborating with technical teams, including developers, engineers, and product managers.
  • Experience writing about one or more backend languages like Ruby, Go, Python, PHP, Node, or Java.
  • The ability to read front-end technologies, such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Experience with documentation generation tools and automation, and experience using AI tools to help identify changes, drift, and errors in documentation.
  • An understanding of user experience principles, content design, and accessibility in technical writing.
  • Experience with large-scale information architecture projects.
  • Experience learning new technologies and documenting the latest software products.
