About the Role

Our client, a global leader in the mining industry, is seeking a highly experienced Remote Senior Mining Engineer to focus on operations. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to leverage your expertise from anywhere. You will play a crucial role in optimizing production processes, enhancing operational efficiency, and ensuring the safe and effective extraction of resources across our diverse mining portfolio. Your responsibilities will involve providing high-level technical guidance, developing innovative operational strategies, and collaborating with site-based teams and management through virtual channels. The ideal candidate possesses extensive knowledge of mining methods, equipment, and operational best practices, coupled with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Key Responsibilities

Provide senior technical expertise and guidance on mining operations strategies. Analyze operational data to identify areas for improvement in efficiency, cost reduction, and productivity. Develop and refine operational procedures and best practices for various mining methods. Collaborate remotely with mine site teams, including general managers, engineers, and supervisors. Conduct virtual mine inspections and performance reviews. Assist in the development of operational budgets and forecasts. Evaluate and recommend new technologies and equipment to enhance operational performance. Contribute to safety reviews and promote a strong safety culture across all operations. Prepare technical reports, analyses, and presentations for senior management. Mentor and support junior mining engineers and operational staff.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus. Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in mining operations. Deep understanding of open-pit and/or underground mining methods, equipment, and technologies. Proven experience in operational analysis, planning, and optimization. Proficiency with mining simulation and planning software. Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate remotely. Demonstrated ability to lead and influence teams virtually. Self-motivated with strong organizational and time management skills. Familiarity with mine safety regulations and best practices. Experience working in a remote or distributed team environment is highly desirable.
