On Call Counsel - We are currently seeing a licensed NJ attorney to work remotely for an expanding practice whose focus is specifically on employment law. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a strong background in general litigation and extensive experience in employment law. Responsibilities:

  • Manage a diverse caseload of general litigation matters with a primary focus on employment law. This includes handling cases related to discrimination, harassment, wage and hour disputes, wrongful termination, FMLA, ADA, etc.
  • Conduct in-depth legal research and analysis, particularly concerning complex employment law issues.
  • Independently draft and prepare all necessary legal documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, and other documents related to employment litigation.
  • Conduct and defend depositions, demonstrating expertise in employment law-specific discovery.
  • Represent clients effectively in court hearings, trials, and arbitrations related to employment disputes.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive litigation strategies for employment cases.
  • Skillfully negotiate settlements and resolutions in employment law matters.
  • Provide expert advice to clients on employment law compliance, ensuring they understand their rights and obligations.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel, demonstrating sensitivity and professionalism in handling confidential employment matters.
  • Collaborate effectively with other attorneys and staff members, contributing to a positive and supportive team environment.
  • Maintain meticulous and organized case files, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Adhere strictly to all ethical rules and professional standards governing the practice of law.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in New Jersey (required).
  • Active license to practice law in New York (preferred).
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of general litigation experience, with a significant and demonstrable focus on employment law.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in all aspects of litigation, including depositions, trial preparation, motions practice, pleadings, discovery, and settlement negotiations, specifically within the complex realm of employment law.
  • In-depth understanding of state and federal employment laws and regulations, including recent developments and trends.
  • Exceptional research, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to analyze intricate employment law issues.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills, including the ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly and concisely to clients.
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail, essential for managing a remote caseload effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively, demonstrating self-motivation and initiative in a remote work environment.
  • Commitment to providing client-focused and responsive legal services.
