Internship Role at a Glance The Media Trust is looking for a Cybersecurity Analyst Intern to join our Digital Security and Operations team. This internship is ideal for someone who is passionate about cybersecurity, malware analysis, web technologies, and threat research. As a Cybersecurity Analyst Intern, you will work closely with experienced security analysts to help analyze suspicious web activity, malicious ad behavior, JavaScript, HTML and other digital threats. You will gain hands-on experience in malware detection, threat investigation, forensic analysis, and reporting while learning how threats move through the modern digital advertising ecosystem. This role is a great opportunity for candidates who want to build real-world experience in cybersecurity, malware research, security operations, and digital trust and safety. Responsibilities

The intern’s responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Assist with analyzing suspicious websites, ad tags, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript Support investigations into malicious redirects, cloaking, scam campaigns, ad fraud, e-skimming, and other web-based threats Help identify tactics, techniques, and procedures used in malicious campaigns Review scan results, HAR files, screenshots, and other evidence related to malware detections Assist in documenting findings and preparing internal investigation notes Help create reports summarizing malicious behavior, indicators, and campaign characteristics Research domains, URLs, IPs, scripts, and other indicators related to suspicious activity Work with analysts to improve malware detection, signatures, and investigation workflows Learn how programmatic advertising, third-party code, and digital supply chains can be abused by threat actors Communicate findings clearly to internal teams

Qualifications

Ideal candidates should have: Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Security, Computer Information Systems, or a related IT field Basic understanding of web technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript Basic knowledge of cybersecurity concepts, malware, phishing, web threats, or threat intelligence Interest in static and dynamic analysis of suspicious code or web activity Familiarity with at least one programming or scripting language such as JavaScript, Python, Java, C, C++, or Ruby Ability to research technical topics and document findings clearly Strong attention to detail and curiosity about how attacks work Good written and verbal communication skills Ability to work collaboratively with a remote team Willingness to learn new tools, techniques, and security concepts Applicants selected may be subject to a background check.

Preferred Qualifications

The following are helpful but not required: Coursework, labs, certifications, or projects related to cybersecurity, malware analysis, SOC operations, or digital forensics Basic understanding of JavaScript obfuscation or ability to read unfamiliar code Experience using browser developer tools, proxies, sandboxes, or forensic tools Familiarity with operating systems such as Windows, Linux, macOS, iOS, or Android Experience writing small automation scripts to support analysis or research Interest in threat research, malware write-ups, or security presentations Understanding of digital advertising or programmatic ad serving Interest in mobile-specific malware, malicious redirects, or web-based attacks Passion for making the internet safer Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is curious, technical, detail-oriented, and eager to learn. You do not need to know everything on day one, but you should be comfortable asking questions, researching unfamiliar topics, and working through technical problems. This internship is best suited for someone who wants to grow into a cybersecurity analyst, malware analyst, threat researcher, SOC analyst, or digital forensics role.
