Role Description The Associate Workers’ Compensation Attorney (Claimant) will provide legal representation to injured workers in Florida, focusing on claimant-side workers’ compensation matters. This full-time, remote role involves managing a caseload from intake through resolution, including interviewing clients, evaluating claims, gathering and reviewing medical and employment records, and developing case strategies. The attorney will draft legal documents, such as petitions, motions, discovery requests, and settlement agreements, and will communicate regularly with clients, opposing counsel, insurance carriers, and medical providers to advance cases efficiently. The role includes negotiating settlements, preparing for and attending hearings (which may require occasional in-person appearances), and ensuring compliance with all applicable workers’ compensation laws and procedural rules. The attorney will collaborate with support staff to maintain organized files, meet deadlines, and deliver responsive, compassionate service to clients.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience with employee benefits and workers’ compensation issues, with the ability to assess entitlement to medical and indemnity benefits.
• Strong claims handling and claims management skills, including evaluating liability, documenting injuries, and tracking case progress from intake to resolution.
• Knowledge of insurance practices and procedures related to workers’ compensation, including dealing with adjusters, understanding policy coverage, and navigating insurer communications.
• Excellent customer service and client communication skills, with the ability to explain legal options clearly, manage expectations, and provide empathetic support to injured workers.
• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active membership, in good standing, with the Florida Bar.
• Prior experience in workers’ compensation or personal injury litigation preferred; familiarity with Florida workers’ compensation statutes and rules is highly beneficial.
• Strong legal research, writing, and advocacy skills, including drafting pleadings, motions, and settlement documents, and presenting arguments in hearings.
• Ability to work effectively in a remote environment, manage a high-volume caseload, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Proficiency with case management software and standard office technology; bilingual skills (especially Spanish/English) are a plus.
